A very quick note on the importance of Bees

Bumble Bee

There are tiny gardeners flying around, they are hard workers and are always busy.  Bees work for the plants.  The plants need the Bees so they can produce seeds and fruits.

When a bee lands on a flower to collect nectar and pollen, pollen sticks to its hairy body. The bee then flies to another flower and some of that pollen rubs off.

This is pollination and it allows the plant to make seeds.

Flower → bee carries pollen → another flower → seeds can develop

Not every plant needs bees, and some plants are pollinated by wind, water, or other animals. But bees are extremely important pollinators. Bees are part of the workforce in nature.

Bee → wildflower → insects → birds → other animals

If there are fewer bees, some plants can struggle to reproduce, this can affect other wildlife that depends on those plants.

There are thousands of bee species around the world. Honeybees are the famous ones, but Britain also has many different bumblebees and solitary bees and they don’t all behave in the same way. Some are specialists that are particularly good at pollinating certain plants.

Bees need flowers for food. Flowers need bees to help them reproduce, and other wildlife depends on those plants too.
